Reduce the debt to income ratio to be lower than 30%. If more than 30% goes to debt payments you can never start to build an emergency fund.
  • Pay off some smaller debt. Current ratio: 14.3% ($500 -> max. $1,050)
  • Savings rate of at least 1%
